1.  d)  Samuel Pepys.  Charles II doted on his King Charles Spaniels (Cavaliers) even going so far as passing a Royal edict that no King Charles Spaniel can be denied entry to any public place.

2.  e)  Van Gogh.  All the others have painted using Cavalier type spaniels including Landseer who painted the picture known as 'The Cavalier's Pets in 1845, which is used as a logo for the All Cavalier King Charles Spaniels webring.

3.  b)  James II.  James II, brother of Charles II carried on his brother's love of the Cavalier spaniels and supposedly gave an order when forced to abandon ship during rough seas 'Save the dogs and the Duke of Monmouth!" 

4.  c)  Chow Chows.  Mrs. Hewitt (Amice) Pitt was a well-known Chow breeder who in 1924 bought a blenheim King Charles called 'Waif Julia' as a pet for her mother.  She showed Waif Julia at Crufts in the class sponsored by Mr. Roswell Eldridge and won the class.  At this point she became interested in breeding the Cavalier type King Charles Spaniel.


5.  d)  Ann's Son.  Ann's Son was owned by Miss Mostyn Walker and was used as a template while the founders of the breed drew up the Standard.  A Blenheim dog who won well in the show ring was considered one of the founding sires of the breed.

6. c)  Ch. Daywell Roger.  A Blenheim dog, grandson of Ann's Son, was the first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel champion, he was also the sire of eleven Champions.
