Charles II doted on his King Charles Spaniels (Cavaliers) even going so
far as passing a Royal edict that no King Charles Spaniel can be denied entry
to any public place. 2. e) Van Gogh. All
the others have painted using Cavalier type spaniels including Landseer who
painted the picture known as 'The Cavalier's Pets in 1845, which is used as a
logo for the All Cavalier King Charles Spaniels webring. 3. b) James II. James
II, brother of Charles II carried on his brother's love of the Cavalier
spaniels and supposedly gave an order when forced to abandon ship during rough
seas 'Save the dogs and the Duke of Monmouth!" 4. c) Chow Chows. Mrs. Hewitt (Amice) Pitt was a well-known Chow breeder who in 1924 bought a blenheim King Charles called 'Waif Julia' as a pet for her mother. She showed Waif Julia at Crufts in the class sponsored by Mr. Roswell Eldridge and won the class. At this point she became interested in breeding the Cavalier type King Charles Spaniel.

Roger. A Blenheim dog, grandson of
Ann's Son, was the first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel champion, he was also
the sire of eleven Champions. 7. c) Ch. Aloysius of Sunninghill. A Tri-coloured dog, he won 19 CCs (a
breed record) and produced ten Champion offspring including his daugher Ch.
Amelia of Laguna who made history by being the first Cavalier to win the toy
group at Crufts in 1963. 8. c) Carole Lombard. Ronald Reagan, better known as a
President of the United States, was also an actor and owned a Cavalier by the
pet name of Rex. 9. b) Millais. Amice
Pitt was the granddaughter of Sir John Millais, one of the founders of the
pre-Raphaelites. Her father was
Sir Everett Millais, a member of the Kennel Club and Pasteur Committe. He helped establish Bassett Hounds in
the UK in 1880. 10. a) Dash. Queen Victoria owned a tri-coloured
male Cavalier. 11. d) Ch. Amanda Loo of Ttiweh. A Black and Tan bitch, bred by Mrs.

Bell and owned by Brenda Hauser and M. Snyder-Johnson. 14. b) AKC and CKCSC Ch. Partridge Wood
Laughing Misdemeanor. Demi, a ruby
bitch, won the Breed at the Garden (Westminister Kennel Club) the first time that Cavaliers were eligible to be shown
there. She was bred by Debra King
and owned by Cindy Lazzeroni. 15. d) Eng/NZ Ch. Sugar Crisp of Ttiweh. A blenheim dog bred by Mrs. A. Pitt,
was imported to New Zealand where he won a Best in Show. 16. b) Ch. Pargeter Flashback. In 1965 Pargeter Flashback became the
first Canadian Ch. bred by Mrs. Keswick and owned by Sheila Anderson. Deanhill Panda was the first Cavalier
to be shown in the ring in Canada.
Ch. Newforest Rufus was the first Cavalier to obtain an all breed Best
